Time to be more open

What a pity action and democracy in Rye seems to take place in secret.

Amber Rudd, replying to my enquiry concerning her meeting on Monday about the potential Rye supermarket, replied “good progress, have set tight deadline and will stay on it, can’t say more yet ... “

Meanwhile, Granville Bantick, running the Rye Highways Forum, replying to me concerning transparency of the meeting and its closure to the public said “From time to time I will be making its views public when I consider it is in the public interest to do so”.

What have these people got to hide? Our MP should tell us what she is doing. And if the Highways Forum is considering matters not in the public interest, they are wasting their time.

Sincerely, Peter Savory, Military Road, Rye.
