Tough trading times so do we need plans?

READING the article on Costa Coffee (Gazette, March 25), one must question why a planning application is necessary in view of the planning officer's comments.

Surely, here is a way of saving money, by doing away with them.

As for the comments of our mayor, how many traders were spoken to?

More than one caf owner is concerned at the way trade is going.

You only have to pass by to realise that trade is not brilliant in one or two.

My main criticism was that we lost the last men's clothing shop, plus the fact that we still have all the empty shops.

It is hard to believe that at one time, several shops catering for men existed in the town.
