On Thursday 13th November and Friday 14th November 2014, Greenway Academy in Horsham celebrated Children In Need.

The first day was celebrated with Greenway Academy’s version of The Great British Bake Off: The Great Greenway Bake Off. Each year group participated and each class had a competition to see which child was The Great Greenway Bake Off champion in their class. The winner in each class won a Pudsey mug. Congratulations to all the winners! These cakes were sold later that day and all the students and teachers loved eating the delicious bakes!

With the first day finished, the second day came. A market was held in the school hall and lots of money was raised. Each class had a stall to themselves and cakes, books, other sweet things, drinks and a few games were sold. Also, on the second day, children were allowed to come to school in non-uniform dressed as a superhero or something spotty or Pudsey-related. Both adults and children dressed up. It could be just a spotty tie you wore or a full superhero costume - it didn’t matter!

The Assistant Headteacher, Mr. Cannon, said about the two days: “It has been wonderful to watch the entire school community come together to have fun, be creative and raise so much money for a fantastic cause.”

The school raised an astonishing £1124.81 throughout the two days which will go to Children In Need. The money will hopefully help children who have disabilities, children who live in poverty or children who maybe are just not as fortunate as us.
