UK border would not move to Dover if we left EU

I write in response to Steve Martin's letter (4 Feb) stating that our border in Calais would be moved to Dover if we left the EU.

He may be interested to learn that these agreements were made through separate treaties between the UK and France more than 20 years after we joined the EU, so would therefore remain in place in the event of a vote to leave.

Us ‘Outers’ do not wish to face any challenge alone. We wish to co-operate with the whole world and not who the EU says we can.

If we vote to leave, we could create our own free trade agreements across the world (currently forbidden by the EU) and retake our rightful seat in global organisations such as the World Trade Organisation. The £350 million a week that we send to the EU could be spent here on the NHS, on education, or indeed on anything we wanted.
