Unfairly charged for soak-away water

Southern Water are not being entirely honest about their water charges.

Numerous bungalows in Littlehampton have soak-aways for surface water drainage.

Charges cannot be levied for surface water.

Southern Water ignore this and charge as if it goes into the sewerage system.

I find it hard to believe that Southern Water would not know which of their customers is on a soak-away or sewerage system.

It is up to the individual to make a claim for the refund of this charge. I made a refund claim and received £23.06 for period 2015 to 2016.

I live in a close that has 35 other bungalows. We are all tenants of a housing trust. All of us are past our best, so I guess would not be aware of the refund.

To be fair to Southern Water, on the back of the water bill there is a small note about surface water.

The MoneySavingExpert.com forum has much more detail on other Water companies/customer experiences.

I think the above subject would make a good crusading article.
