Unique Christmas markets

Anyone living in Horsham is used to their markets doing things differently and, this year, they are even turning their Christmas Markets into a unique seasonal market – celebrating local and British.

The Horsham Markets team have already proved that a good produce market is best held at least weekly and all day.

The Local Produce market is held every Saturday (and even on smaller scale every Thursday), stays open until at least 4pm and is now one of the largest in the South – very different to many farmers markets held monthly and closing at lunchtime.

The ‘Best of British’ Christmas Markets will take place on the Sundays during December and every day from 19th December.

Market organiser, PJ Aldred, says: “This is a far cry from the shed-type markets that pop up seasonally in various towns and we will offer quality, unique gifts and produce that you just can’t get in the shops or at other markets.”

She reports that they have had a phenomenal response from artistans and traders who have signed up to trade on the markets and goes on to explain: “Whilst the big cities host some great, authentic German markets, smaller towns tend to get in ‘continental-style’ markets that are not quite the same.

“Rather than trying to be something we are not, it made sense for our Christmas Markets to embrace what local artisans and producers already do so well.”

The markets will have a large variety of seasonal, local and British produce on offer including vintage, designer homeware, handmade soaps, dog treats, stained glass, beeswax products, upcycled gifts, artisan chocolate, English produced toys, jewellery and local food and drink.

The Christmas Markets are hosted in the Carfax, Horsham Town Centre, every Sunday in December and every day from 19th December through to Christmas Eve, 10am – 4pm. Visit www.horshammarkets.co.uk.
