Utterly absurd

Last night I attended the Littlehampton Musical Comedy Society’s production of Kiss Me, Kate and was amazed by the professionalism and enthusiasm of the performers.

Each part, however small, was excellently played and had us all laughing throughout.

All of the cast were great, but the two gangsters deserve a special mention for their humorous Chicago accents and comedic value.

The music was also very well performed – both together with the singers and in the richness of sound that came from such a small group.

With shows of such value on display at the Windmill, talk of it being closed for good seems utterly absurd. I have recently returned from living in Mombasa, Kenya, where I was part of a small arts & music group – we would have been incredibly grateful for a venue like the Windmill there.

It is a great shame that certain minds in this town believe that the performing arts should take second place to a quick buck made out of more apartment blocks. To them, and to any reader, I say go and support our local theatre at the Windmill – you’ll see the excellent talent and facilities that our small seaside town has to offer!
