Verging on crazy

Our neighbour has a large grass verge that had four trees on it just over a year ago, until one died.

She phoned the council and asked them if they would replace it, but they said they didn’t have the money to do so. So off she went a brought a tree, of the same kind, planted it and the council even sent someone round to put a collar around the tree.

It survived, was flowering and about 5ft tall, even the gas engineers were careful around it.

Then came the so-called ‘grass cutters’ (if you could see the state of our grass, you would see why I called them ‘so-called’), who accidently demolished it, taking the remains so as not to leave any evidence!

We had a visit by the council man, who told us that she should not have planted a tree as she did not get permission.

What happened to plant a tree and save our planet? And not costing the council anything.
