There was a great happening in Warnham on Saturday April 11 when the village came together to attend the Spring Village Show, its 108th anniversary.

The message had gone out from the organisers inviting everyone to celebrate what they make, bake and grow – and this they did in their hundreds!

The very mild weather had resulted in fewer daffodils than hoped for – always the star of the Show – but there were still some very impressive specimens.

There was a good range of cookery, handicrafts, flower arrangements and photography, and the children had excelled themselves in the Arts and Crafts section.

The scope of the Show this year had been expanded to include entertainment, and people tucking into a delicious array of donated cakes, were entertained by dancers from the Warnham School of Dance, and music from the Rob Baker Trio and pianist, John Baker.

The Reverend Rosemary Cattell who presented the awards spoke of the overwhelming attendance at the Show which reflected the obvious community spirit in Warnham.

Needless to say, the organisers were thrilled at the community’s response which had resulted in an amazing day, and they look forward to the Summer Show on 16 August which should have an exciting programme, including a Fun Dog Show, an old favourite.
