Visitors can look around and see what is on offer

FOLLOWING the recent news of the proposed closure of Daisy Fields camping site, Littlehampton, I would like to put my argument forward for the interests of yourselves and many travellers/campers in this country and other countries.

Daisy Fields is a lovely family campsite which brings new people to the beautiful town of Littlehampton. I moved down to the town in the summer of 2008, after spending just 12 days on this campsite.

I love Littlehampton, for the place that it is and the residents within the town and surrounding areas. However, I would have had no knowledge of this town without staying on the campsite, and therefore strongly object to its closure.

As we all know, Littlehampton is situated in a great location at the bottom of the South Downs. As the residents of the town are all aware, Littlehampton has some lovely features, making it a fantastic south coast destination. Many residents are very proud of its award-winning sandy beach and beautiful river. The town has some lovely shops, restaurants and public houses.

Beside the sea, there is the golf course and amusement park. Along the river is a great spot for crab fishing, there is canoeing in the Oyster Pond and the option to see the 360 view of this stunning town from the Look & Sea visitor centre.

If Littlehampton loses this campsite, are we taking away a big part of tourism into the town? Will there be a knock-on effect on the local tourist attractions and businesses in the area? The campsite is only a walk away from the town centre and is set in an ideal location for visitors passing by or coming into the town.

The council should not be seen to be neglecting Littlehampton as an attractive place to stay and visit. Surely the council should really be investing further int developing of the campsite and the tourist attractions in the town.
