The special occasion was an opportunity to recognise the tremendous contribution of volunteers in the villages who give up their time to support others in need of extra assistance, estimated to be 10,300 hours each year.

The Association has been running for 47 years and has built a strong network of volunteers who help with transport services, house visits, social groups and lunch clubs.

The Association is also engaged in wider community projects and last year opened a garden at Green Meadows sheltered housing.

Pulborough Medical Group are one of the supporters of the Association and make a financial contribution towards patient transport. West Sussex County Council also provides funds towards a wheelchair accessible vehicle which is driven by trained volunteer drivers.

New volunteers in all areas of support are welcomed, and training is provided where needed.

After the event, Chairman Gwen Parr said: “Everyone was delighted to see Nick and his strong support for Community Care is much appreciated.”
