What has it been up to until now?

How astonishing to see a recent minute from Rye Town Council of their discussion about forming an ‘economic development working group’.

The second item of two on the ‘brief’ is: “To help the council determine how it might best contribute to the promotion of Rye as an attractive place in which to live, work, visit or study; [and the] appropriate and sustainable economic development for the benefit of all.”

You have to wonder what the council has been doing up until now.

I would have thought a core function should be attracting economic investment in all its forms to Rye and the responsibility should rest with all the councillors. But it’s OK, the working group will talk, they will report to the council who will talk, and nothing will ever change.

Oh, and by the way, the working group is not of right open to the public!
