Where will cars go?

WHEN the Lyminster railway crossing is closed, the traffic on the A284 going north through Lyminster is often backed down to the Wick roundabout at the junction with the A259.

Does West Sussex County Council have a plan as to where it is going to put the cars and lorries engendered by the addition of 600 houses at the Courtwick Lane site and from the Morrisons’ supermarket?

It is doubtful whether traffic from this area will bother to go along to pick up the proposed Lyminster bypass, if indeed it ever gets built. As things are, any accident in the area already brings the whole road network to a grinding halt, with hours of road closures and delays.

When the North Littlehampton plans were on show in Wick, we asked the representatives of both the developers and Arun District Council about the access to the A27 and were told “It’s nothing to do with us” – not a very helpful attitude, to say the least.

By the way, is anyone responsible for keeping the A27 clean? The rubbish strewn at the sides of the road between Chichester and Worthing is appalling.
