Where will renaming Hastings’ roads end if we apologise for past sins?

I was very interested to read the letter about renaming Havelock Road, Mr Thompson seems to have forgotten they terrible things that the Indians did to the British during the Indian Mutiny such as throwing men women and children into the Black Hole Of Calcutta to die a long and painful death.

We seem to have become a nation of apologists for the sins committed by our ancestors like slavery and for creating an Empire and if some people had their way they would dispose of statues of Queen Vic & Victorian heroes & rename places relating to famous battles or people like Wellington Square, Waterloo Stn, Trafalgar Square so as not to upset the French.

Its amazing we haven’t forgotten but have forgiven the terrible atrocities committed by the Germans & Japanese which are still in living memory but are still going on about what happened hundreds of years ago
