Winchelsea Beach dogs’ mess row

After reading the article about Ms. Helena Turner and the dog waste I would like to point out the following.

We ‘locals’ at Winchelsea Beach have had to put up with large numbers of brightly coloured plastic bags of dog poo littering our beloved countryside since Ms. Turner moved to the area about five years ago. These bags were often left beside the paths for many months, gradually becoming a stinking mass.

Many of us tried to remonstrate with Ms. Turner, but she refused to remove the bags, with the result that several local people took to collecting them and leaving them in her driveway.

I have written to the council pointing out that they have a duty to prevent Ms. Turner from wilfully littering the countryside with plastic bags, and suggesting that a compromise would be to place a dog waste bin near her property in which she can place the bags, as she has not been willing to use the bins on the coastal road about five minutes walk away.

Now that the council has provided Ms Turner with a dog waste bin, installed and maintained at great expense to the taxpayer, it is our hope that she will use it, and desist from leaving bags of dog poo lying around in her futile efforts to “educate” dog owners.
