Wonderful films

It’s wonderful to see the Windmill showing movies again.

Good choice of first-run films, good picture and sound, no adverts (yippee) and just a couple of trailers, played at sensible sound level (unlike the multiplex chains which deafen the audience with overloud ads and trailers).

The Windmill’s prices are sensible and the show I went to was a packed house.

Long may it last.

The only thing that could be improved is in the hands of the local council, the same good people who previously closed the cinema.

Their car park notices are absurdly confusing.

A small print, hard-to-find note says parking is free after 6pm. Large print notices say parking is free for people using shops, restaurants and amusements.

There’s no mention of whether the Windmill is included and how cars are distinguished.

Perhaps it’s a deliberate way to trap parkers into fines.

If so, the Windmill has a simple solution.

Start the 6pm show at 6.15pm.
