Mr Rickard’s long letter on cycle lanes is all about cyclists (Herald letters, August 28 click here to read).

As someone who is less able I think it’s wrong to remove disabled parking and parking from seafront side of the road.

I don’t drive but my friends take me to the seafront to park up and look at the sea when they visit if the weather is nice. It’s a short walk to a bench to sit and look at the sea.

Apart from the congestion cyclists ignore red lights and come out of nowhere .

This will cause accidents as the elderly will not hear them coming and not be able to cross the road quickly enough. Buses will not stop and what happens to the Dotto train? Cyclists can go any route so don’t spoil our seafront. Look at Brighton now removing it!

Just because other seasides do it why should we? Hotels will close and the town will lose out for a few cyclists who will still ride on the prom and pavements.
