Young puppy owner causes upset

I WAS walking in Brickfields Park, Rustington, with my friend and a dog. A young woman with a Staffordshire terrier and another dog was also there.

The Staffie was off the lead and kept bounding over and pestering my dog, who is very nervous of boisterous dogs. The dog did this two or three times and I shouted at it to go away. All the owner did was call it away and then let it do it again.

We walked behind the trees to keep away from the dog, but all of a sudden, it bounded round and knocked my friend to the ground. I shouted to the woman to keep the dog under control, as he had knocked my friend over, and she refused to put it on a lead, as she said it wasn't her fault '“ "He's only a puppy". She did not even apologise to my friend.

As we left the park, she had both her dogs on the lead to go home, but refused to take any blame, or say she was sorry. In fact, she said she will take the dog when and where she wants, without a lead, and if I didn't like it, I should go elsewhere, because she would be taking the dog there every day.

I could not believe the rudeness, and as she was young enough to be my daughter, all I can say is thank goodness my daughter is not arrogant like her.

If my friend does have any bad repercussions after this fall, we will find out where this dog owner lives and report her as an irresponsible owner.

Shame about all this, as the dog was absolutely lovely, and just playful.
