The money will go on to support disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.

Fourteen of Mark’s piano and electronic keyboard students aged six to 18 are being sponsored by their family and friends to perform a piece of music on stage at The Barn, Causeway, Horsham on Monday November 9 at 7pm.

There will also be a special guest appearance by another local professional musician.

The finale will involve all the students forming an ensemble to perform a Jamaican folk song that Mark has arranged for a variety of instruments especially for the event.

Refreshments and home-baked cakes will be available after the concert followed by a raffle to win Pudsey, Blush and music-themed prizes. If you can’t make it to the concert, be sure to look out for photos on BBC South Today next week.

Mark Reeves has been teaching children and adults in the Horsham area for the past ten years.

Knowing that performing in public provides many benefits to piano students, he decided to organise an annual concert which would also give them the opportunity to help raise money to benefit the lives of other children in the UK. Since his first concert in 2007 Mark and his students have raised over £5600 to date for BBC Children in Need.

Speaking of his plans Mark Reeves said: “This year I’m doing my bit for BBC Children in Need by putting on yet another piano concert and I’m really looking forward to it!

“With music of various styles, a special guest appearance and a fun finale it promises to be better than ever.

“It’s all in support of BBC Children in Need, so please join me and my students and dig deep if you can!”

Tickets are available on the door (Adults £3/Children free). More information from: [email protected]
