Mayor has done a lot for town

WHAT is happening to Worthing? Vandalism, drunken behaviour at weekends, potholes in the roads, traffic jams on the A27 and, to top it all, the mayor and his wife doze off during a performance of Bugsy Malone at the Vale First and Middle School!

To add insult to injury, you decide to splash this incident across the front page.

Give them a break! Mr Atkins had the decency to apologise and explained that he was suffering from a heavy cold and his wife was taking medication following a stroke.

After all he has done for the town, he is pilloried for this minor faux-pas.

I am sure he is not the first mayor to doze off at a theatrical performance and he won't be the last.

Perhaps, if any future holder of this office attends a similar function whilst suffering from a cold, he or she should warn those in charge that they might drop off and if so, no offence is intended.
