PARKING: Storrington's 'ridiculous' parking scheme

FOLLOWING the imposition of the ridiculous parking scheme in Storrington, I felt that I would like to write to the residents of Storrington to apologise that my staff are now being forced to park outside their houses whilst they work at Spofforths.

The council, in their wisdom, has decided that it will only allow people to park for a maximum of five hours in their car parks.

Whilst it may be normal in a council to only work for five hours, in the real world people tend to be in their workplace for at least eight hours a day.

When we were made aware of the scheme, we wrote to the council and advised them of the number of staff who worked at Spofforths and would be requiring parking permits for that amount of time.

We were issued with permits, but not nearly enough.

I would, therefore, ask the residents of Storrington to have some understanding that those, who are trying to keep the business of Storrington alive in difficult times, are now being forced to park outside their houses.

The scheme was devised entirely by the council, without adequate consultation.

Your councillor is responsible and should be held to account for this.
