Police were fantastic

Within 10 minutes of the departure of the thief, an officer with a dog was in pursuit.

Another officer arrived within seven to 10 minutes to re-assure me and take a statement.

Before long, a forensics officer arrived and two days later an officer from the CID.

I cannot praise these officers highly enough.

Their quiet competence, their reassuring presence and their kindness meant a very great deal to me as I was very shaken.

I am very grateful to them all, especially the young PC who took my statement so patiently and efficiently at the end of a long shift.
