Positive spin on cycling

THERE have been many negative comments about cycling on the promenade.

I would like to put across my point for children and sensible adults who cycle.

Lots of people are trying to convince children like me to get off the sofa and do something active and healthy.

This is a very healthy sport which burns many calories at a very fast speed.

Children younger than me cannot ride on the road, even my Dad only feels safe riding on the road in the early morning and has had a large number of near misses on that seafront road and we can't cycle on the pavements, so yes, there are people out there who race along the promenade, but we need space to ride!

Even if it's just a little strip near the wall, there is hardly anywhere else to cycle safely.

Also, on Sunday, March 28, my Dad and I and several other friends cycled down to the official opening of the promenade to show there are safe cyclists out there somewhere and even had some photos taken by photographers with the mayor.

I was very upset not to see even a small article to support this event in the paper.

My mum always buys the Herald to see what is going on locally.

I feel the letters in the Your Views pages recently have been very unfair on us as they were filled with complaints.

I think you should put in a few positive comments from people like me, who feel we should be able to cycle safely without complaints.

Maybe we can come to some sort of agreement.
