Public need to be fully informed over Health Hub plans

The proposals to provide a new Health Hub at the Downs Site in Seaford have caused a great deal of concern totown residents, not just those living nearby.

There is a long list of issues to be addressed including transport links, parking, loss of amenity, negative effects on the town centre and the level of public consultation to date.

Unfortunately there has also been misinformation circulating.

I believe it is now vital that the public are given a very clear statement to explain why the site in Dane Road, owned we are told by NHS Properties, cannot be used to build this much-needed new facility.

It is indeed a large plot and plans were drawn up some years ago for expansion there.

It is not good enough just to be told “it has not proved possible”.

Residents are entitled to have full explanation with evidence, as, on the face of it, this is the only other suitable site.

Lewes District Council should provide this information urgently in order for the public to make better-informed opinions and arguments.

We know that we need better primary health care facilities in Seaford and we must not lose this chance of funding, but we also need the public to be fully involved and fully informed.
