It is reported that the situation is worse than in 1976 and by summer will be critical.

Why then, are some commercial premises still wasting thousands of gallons of drinking quality water?

Twice recently I have seen people hosing down their forecourts and car showrooms cleaning their cars regularly with a running hose.

This action is totally irresponsible and the people concerned should be ashamed.

It may well still be legal to use a hosepipe to spray already fairly clean cars, but it is selfish, wasteful and, in the current situation, thoroughly stupid.

It is hoped such organisations will now show a much greater sense of social responsibility.
