Town should be grateful

A BIG thank-you to all those who turned up on Monday, March 15, and supported the campaign to stop the destruction of Titnore Woods and the farmland adjacent to it from becoming a concrete eyesore.

The rejection of these plans was long overdue and at last we have seen some indication of the local council acting democratically and listening to the citizens it represents - even though it has taken them several years to do so!

Let us hope that the consortium who wanted to destroy our local countryside will also see sense and refrain from taking this matter to appeal or any further.

This town should be forever grateful to those men and women who have fought for this cause for years, especially those who have been, and are continuing to live, in Titnore Woods in order that future generations and the wildlife of West Durrington can enjoy the green fields and woods that surround them.
