Track down those to blame for holes

YOU don't have to be observationally challenged to spot that the vast majority of potholes in Worthing haven't just happened because of the cold weather.

Most, I believe, are related to road works by the various utility companies - that's water, gas, electricity, cable and telephones.

These are all privatised companies with shareholders who benefit from the profits, so why are the council tax payers having to foot the bill?

I would suggest that the administrators at the roads department at Clapham would be better employed tracking those responsible and reclaiming the moneys on our behalf instead of "re-designing" perfectly serviceable road layouts to accommodate cyclists who were quite happy using the roads, anyway.

Come on, West Sussex County Council - get your act together, get your priorities right and stop wasting our money.
