Veteran's stance on referendum

Britons, historically, always resisted diktat, whether by force of arms or undemocratic usurpation of civil power.

Service veterans are not natural democrats yet before and during the EU’s short lifespan, we all served NATO’s peace to preserve Europe’s democracies from external attack, so the EU Commission’s lack of accountable democracy is not our stumbling block, though the quality of its recycled politicians frankly is deplorable.

Nations hold the first obligation of governance in defence of the realm and its people, admitting genuine refugees but not unfortunate courageous economic migrants. In this first obligation, EU Treaty assents and concurs.

Not so the EU Commission who cravenly abdicated rule of law when the EU’s power-house Frau Merkel unilaterally abrogated EU Treaty to invite mass immigration that Hungary rightly had blocked – effectively extending Schengen right across Europe. Embedded in her invited masses are those no EU government nor media dare mention, the uncounted unidentified insurgents bent on mayhem and death joining those already within.

The Commission always intended to bind member states into a federal monolith without national sovereignties, loyal to none but the EU. But in these turbulent times, while the EU showed its heart, its Commission head abdicated the first obligation of governance. This Commission has blown ‘Remain’ security mantras wide open. It neither has the will nor power to protect Europe nor its peoples, let alone the UK.

In 1975, I voted for a European Economic Community, I lived and set up in business there; myriad currencies made one hostage to banks, now its vaunted Euro-zone fails by its inherent economic schisms. However, I don’t expect Brexit ever shall cause EU Airbuses to fly without UK wings and engines – tariff free. Yes, considerations other than democracy, security, and economics do apply, I have weighed them and found them wanting too.

In this 2016 referendum, every Briton must choose wisely, each must decide the track to chose. UK demographics and SNP overt policy to get Scottish independence suggest ‘Brexit’ shall not prevail without more youthful support. Nevertheless, I have become an unaffiliated ‘brexit’, I shall vote out

My decision is made easier by learning US presidents’ Camp David poodle is for Remain. He misled us with Iraq’s WMDs, flouted the UN to wage illegal war, cultivated despots money and power, served an ill-starred middle-east peace commissioner role – really. I wonder, is he too being recycled as EU Commissioner?
