We are all made of stars

I AM writing to let you and your readers know a new astronomy group started in Worthing near to the close of last year.

Named Worthing Astronomers, this group's aims are to encourage and publicise awareness of astronomy, more so as 2009 is the International Year of Astronomy which celebrates the 400th anniversary of the telescope being turned to the sky.

A series of events in the UK has been planned to celebrate various aspects of this year, especially so as it was the Englishman Thomas Harriot who looked at the moon through his telescope before Galileo did.

Worthing Astronomers will be planning events in the Worthing area to coincide with the national events as astronomers, both professional and for hobby, will be doing countrywide.

Membership to Worthing Astronomers is free; for information regarding Worthing Astronomers, go to www.worthingastronomers.org.uk; email [email protected] or contact 01903 521205.
