We don't need any more cafés

I noted in the local paper that the old Cooperative shop at Silverhill is being allowed to become a bingo hall with a coffee shop.

Why is our planning department recommending this facility be allowed. If one counts the number of shops in Silverhill out of approximately 40 odd shops, nearly a third of them are serving fast food or coffee in one form or another. I include the two pubs and Asda.

Do we really need this number in an area which is not even a mile in length?

If you look around Hastings and St Leonards there are over a hundred restaurants and cafés in the town

We are constantly being reminded that we are a nation of overweight people, and Hastings has more than its fair share of obese, yet we have a local council which it appears is not meeting its responsibilities in allowing planning to be granted. Yes, we are a seaside town but do we need so many?
