What a waste of money

SO Worthing Council is set to spend up to £50,000 on consultants to help save money?

Worthing's residents should be aghast at such an utter waste of money.

Each department has a budget, and the head of each department participates in the annual budgeting process.

Times are tough and the "heads" have got to manage what funds are available, not necessarily what they want to spend.

The chief executive reviews the budgets with his / her teams and prioritises those tough decisions.

Spending 9,000 to help council members and officers behave "ethically towards each other and the public" is barmy.

Maybe in times of plenty these sorts of initiatives get waved through, but in current times the council should be thinking of ways of reducing the belief that those in senior positions in public office need to be told how to behave.

Follow these simple rules; treat others how you would be expected to be treated yourself.

Worthing Borough Council needs a reality check. Stop wasting our money.
