What was he doing here?

On Friday February, 22, while walking through town with my son, we literally stumbled across a very unusual bird wondering around by the benches at Liverpool Gardens.

At first with my bad eyesight I thought it was a chicken.

Some young lads of about my sons age, nine-years-old, seemed to think it might be a fox!

It turned out to be a male pheasant.

I noticed also that there didn't seem to be any of the usual hoards of seagulls and pigeons around, maybe they felt under-dressed.

My son tried to make video of it but the poor thing was obviously camera shy.

I was lucky to be able to take this lovely photo of him before he toddled off into the bushes.

He was a rare sight to see indeed, whether he was lost or had decided to move to town to get piece of the action outside McDonald's where our local birds convene for regular feeding times, I don't know.

One of the flower ladies thought he was wonderful and was considering phoning the RSPCA she was so concerned.

Maybe she took him home.

I hope whatever happened to him, he's safe and well.
