Katie Jeswani, branch co-ordinator of Worthing NCT and fun day organiser, said her biggest fear was that no-one would turn up to the event, held at the Maybridge Keystone Centre.

However, her fears were allayed as the event raised around £500 for Worthing NCT and had lots of visitors.

Katie said: “It was absolutely brilliant, there were so many people I couldn’t believe it.

“We’d like to thank everyone who came along and supported us. A special thank you should also go to our volunteers for helping on the day.”

There were lots of activities to keep children busy. Tumble Tots set up equipment, Mathemagical mixed play with maths and Dizzy Dance got people moving. There was also a baby play zone, a craft area, a bouncy castle, stalls and a cake sale.

“NCT has always been classed as a middle class parenting charity,” said Katie. “We’re trying to make it more inclusive. The services we offer are open to anyone.”

“We are really trying to get new Mum’s out and socialising and sharing their experiences and worries. I remember how isolated I felt when I had a new baby and had nothing like this on offer.”

The NCT Worthing branch covers the area from Shoreham to Littlehampton. The group organises various events and regular meetings for parents and parents-to-be, from antenatal classes to coffee mornings and evening events to Family fun days.
