‘Out of control dogs have left my life in ruins’

Christine Morrison, of Broadmark Lane, had been walking along the green, near Sea Road, on December 11, when the incident happened.

A large German Shepherd – that was not on a leash – had been chasing a smaller greyhound when it collided with Ms Morrison, leaving her in agonising pain on the floor.

Speaking to the Gazette from her hospital bed in Worthing, she said: “I was shaking like a leaf because I was in shock. I couldn’t move.

“I was absolutely terrified. The dogs were all standing over me and the owners did absolutely nothing to take them away. It was horrible.”

Ms Morrison said the two owners, a man and a woman, approached her and asked if she was okay.

However, when she asked for their details, they shunned her and walked away without calling an ambulance for the stricken pensioner.

Eventually, a passing magistrate, Jackie Taylor, stopped to help Ms Morrison by calling paramedics who rushed to her aid.

Ms Morrison was taken to Worthing Hospital where doctors told her she had suffered a tibia plateau fracture.

The 67-year-old was forced to undergo a three-and-a-half-hour operation and will remain in plaster for about eight weeks.
