They met the leader of Arun District Council, Gillian Brown, and chief executive, Nigel Lynn, district police commander, Jane Derrick, and Sussex police and crime commissioner, Katy Bourne.

They were looking at a number of crime and disorder topics, including domestic violence, and are being helped by the EU to establish better policies and procedures for Kosovo for the future.

The visit was arranged by former Arun chief executive, Ian Sumnall, as part of the European Co-operation for Stronger Municipalities programme.

Mr Lynn said the visit was a fascinating insight into another country. “It was an extremely worthwhile and interesting visit for all parties and gave us the chance to share knowledge and experiences.

“Kosovo is still very ‘new’ as it’s only 13 years since the war ended, and they have lots of practical things to resolve,” he explained.
