Owners are fined for dog fouling

DOG owners who allow their pets to foul pavements and other public areas in Bexhill without picking up after them were the target for a joint police/Rother District Council patrol in the town earlier this week.

PC Jason Kemp was joined by council compliance officer Andy Earl as part of an ongoing operation to prevent dog fouling, issuing offending owners with dog control orders requiring payment of a £50 fine within 10 days, or £75 if not paid within a fortnight.

Where cases go to court, offenders risk being fined up to £1,000 for failing to remove faeces.
