A woman is appealing for the return of some signed paintings which went missing in Lewes at the weekend.

Freya Millward said that on Sunday August 2 she and two friends were on their way back from a family gathering near Polegate with a large A1 folder containing three colourful figure paintings on paper, clearly signed by local artist, and relative, Alison Cotton.

Freya said, “The folder went missing between 3.15pm and 3.30pm, a short space of time, while we were moving belongings from the corner of Southover Road and Station Road to the seating area outside the Lansdown Arms in Lansdown Place – a mere 10 metres or so away.

“We are very much hoping the artworks can be recovered and think that someone local may have taken the folder not knowing the contents.

“We are appealing in the hope that the paintings might be found. We would just be thrilled to get the paintings back as they are of great sentimental value.”
