The exhibition is one of the events being held to mark the 75th anniversary of the church.

Art society secretary Jane Norman said: "I am sure the paintings will look lovely in the church.

"The art society has been going for more than 30 years and this is the first time for us to have paintings on show there.

"By including an arts and crafts section as well, it will also make the exhibition bigger than usual to mark the anniversary."

The society's 16 members will each have up to four works in the church for the public to admire. The paintings will be in various media and feature a wide range of subjects.

Angela Halfacree, a member of the society, said: "Painting is a vent for your creativity. It's nice when a member of the public praises your work."

The society usually stages exhibitions twice a year in Mosse Hall.
