Pair flying high after charity trek

TWO Air Cadet instructors embarked on a 100-mile charity walk.

Paul Codling and Mark Pepper, both civilian instructors at Newhaven Air Training Corps, took part in the three-day trek.

The pair left the squadron HQ in Transit Road, went to Plumpton College

and completed 27km circuits to make up the distance with rests in between.

So far they have collected 600 to be split between the Sussex Air Ambulance and the squadron which hopes to buy adventure training equipment with its share.

Paul said: 'It was good but very tiring.

'We wanted to raise money for the squadron to get some more equipment '“ squadron funding is a bit low '“ and we thought we should raise some money for a local charity as well.

'We have raised more than 600. I don't know how long that will keep the helicopter in the air but it will certainly help us.'

The Newhaven squadron is currently on a recruitment drive.

Anyone in the Newhaven, Seaford, Lewes and Peacehaven area aged 13 and over who is interested should get in touch.

The group meets on Mondays and Thursdays from 6.55pm- 9.30pm at Transit Road next to Newhaven Harbour Station.
