Panto auditions for girls

Guildford’s Yvonne Arnaud Theatre is offering the chance to take part in this year’s panto, with auditions on Sunday, June 19.

Spokeswoman Laura Butler said: “Director Gerry Tebbutt and choreographer Jill Francis are back and they are looking for 24 enthusiastic girls, under the age of 16 years old and no taller than 4’6”, to perform on stage as part of our juvenile chorus. They will be looking for the usual combination of girls who have good dance and singing ability.

“Open auditions will take place on our main stage on Sunday, June 19. The girls should come along to the auditions ready to dance and we ask that they don’t bring any food, only water.

“All applicants will be taught a short dance sequence in groups of approximately fifteen or twenty and will be asked to sing a few lines of a popular song of their own choice.

“Girls should wear appropriate dance clothes and either jazz shoes or jazz trainers. Please make sure that hair is up and off the face, and no jewellery should be worn.

Parents or accompanying adults will be kept informed of the progress of the audition day and we will try and minimise the waiting around period as much as we are able.

“If you would like the chance to be in Jack And The Beanstalk this year, all you need to do is turn up for registration on Sunday, June 19, which starts at 10am in the theatre’s foyer. Please note: there will be a £2 registration fee for each applicant. Further details can be found on our website www.yvonne-arnaud.co.uk.”
