Panto results froom teamwork

Dr Who appeared in the annual panto staged by staff and governors of a Bognor Regis school.

The space traveller was joined on stage at Edward Bryant Primary School by Queen Elizabeth I and Captain Jack, of Pirates of the Caribbean fame.

Some untraditional fairies and ineffective security guards also joined the traditional cast members of King, Queen and beautiful Princess.

The play brought laughter to a sell-out audience for the sixth successive year.

But there was a serious side to the production amid the laughs.

Last year's Ofsted report stated that teamwork was at the heart of the London Road school's success.

Headteacher Cathy Williams said she believed the panto achieved a number of important adjectives.

"It is important to us that the governing body is seen by teachers, parents and children as an integral part of the school.

"It is by working together on a fun project like this that we build a good team and model the values of enjoyment and creativity to our wider school community."

Paddy Bradley, the chairman of governors, agreed. "We all consider ourselves privileged to work with a school like this," he said.

"The panto is a great and growing tradition for us. It really helps staff and governor relationships and is tremendous fun."
