Parents homework help

Help is at hand for parents who struggle to keep up with their children's homework.

Free courses are to be held at the Kip McGrath tuition centre in Beeching Road, in the TFI Earthwise building, specifically aimed at those who want to be able to help with schoolwork but feel unable.

Centre director Sian Crossland said: "We've managed to secure funding from East Sussex County Council's Family Learning Division to run free courses in Bexhill for parents and carers of secondary age children called Keeping Up With The Children".

She has run several of these courses already with co-director Steph Dudson at their centre in Eastbourne with more than 100 "learners".

"The idea is parents come and see what their kids do at school, how it's taught and how they can help their offspring. We've even won awards for our services to parents so to get them up and running in Bexhill is fab!"

Parents need to phone for a place on the taster session on Weds Feb 13 at 9.30-11.30am and then they can decide to do the longer six week courses, one on literacy and the other on numeracy.

Sian added: "All of these then take place on Wednesday mornings and are from 9.30-11.30. No cost whatsoever and free refreshments are thrown in."
