Park for free in Bognor Regis this Christmas

Bognor is doing its bit to offset the credit crunch '“ and help traders and shoppers enjoy a merry Christmas.

Free parking will be available for festive shoppers in Bognor Regis town centre.

The town's chamber of commerce has joined with Arun District Council to scrap parking fees for the 387 spaces in the Fitzleet multi-storey car park off Queensway during the festive season.

The free parking will be available on four Saturdays from this weekend '“ November 27 for the Christmas lights switch-on, December 6, 13 and 20. Normal parking rules will still apply.

Vehicles must be parked in marked bays and disabled spaces are only for those with a disabled badge.

The move comes at a time when other councils are being criticised for cashing in. At Fareham, shoppers face a 25 bill for leaving their car for four hours.
