Parlour to be turned into chippy

CUSTOMERS will be able to tuck in to fish chips as an ice-cream parlour on Bognor Regis seafront takes a different direction.

John Ayres, the owner of Bognor Pier Leisure Ltd wants permission from Arun District Council to change the use of the building from retail to a hot food takeaway.

A statement submitted with the application says: “Previous to this application the unit was used as an ice-cream parlour, but unfortunately this business was only seasonal and we required something to attract customers all year round.”

The ice-cream side of the business will be carried on within the fish and chip shop.

The takeaway will be open plan with a serving counter at its front.

Mr Ayres also wants to install an extraction flue, on the unit which is sited on the left side of the pier, which is Grade II listed.

The flue would only carry hot air as the frying range used would be electric.
