Part of man’s ear found following Littlehampton attack

PART of an ear was found on the floor of a flat after a man was attacked by two intruders in Littlehampton, police have said.

The 38-year-old man also suffered other head and arm injuries as well as sustaining a broken hand when the assault took place, at the property in Arundel Road, at around 12.25am on Saturday morning (March 23).

The man attended Worthing Hospital after police officers convinced him to receive medical treatment.

However, doctors were unable to reattach the severed portion of ear.

It is unclear as to how the injury happened. Police have said that no weapons were found in the property and that nothing had been stolen during the incident.

Two local men, aged 42 and 31, were arrested later that day on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and have since been released on police bail, until May 4 while enquiries continue.

The force has now appealed for any witnesses to the assault, who those who may have information about the event, to contact them on 101, quoting serial 0027 of 23/3.
