Party members to hear what a Labour-controlled council would do

Labour Party members are to get a chance to hear "undoubtedly tough news" about local government spending under a Labour-controlled council.

The Brighton and Hove Labour Party - the 1,500-member "City Party - will meet for only the second time in seven months on Thursday, February 5.

The main topic will focus on the tasks facing a new Labour-led city council, if the party - which currently has 13 councillors - becomes the controlling party after May 7.

Guest speaker will be Councillor Andy Hull, the executive member for finance and performance on Labour-run Islington Council in London.

Cllr Hull will describe Islington's experience of setting up and running a fairness commission.

Setting up a fairness commission is one of the 10 commitments Warren Morgan, leader of the Labour Group, has set out in a "contract" with Brighton and Hove.
