The season kicks-off with the Mercury Award nominated Basquiat Strings.

The group was formed four years ago by composer and arranger cellist Ben Davis. Ben, who studied at London's Guildhall and Canada's Banff Conservatoire, is one of Europe's top jazz string players.

All the members have been classically trained but have also submerged themselves in the jazz tradition. The Basquiat Strings have been developing their own programme, using compositions of Ben Davis and well known jazz players and composers, through rehearsal, 'jamming', and performance.

They will be supported by the up-and-coming jazz foursome, the Portico Quartet.

The performance is on February 23 with tickets from 10.

Internationally renowned group Goldfrapp, take to the stage at the De La Warr on June 21.

The group made their name in electronic dance music with albums such as Felt Mountain, Black Cherry and Supernature.

Goldfrapp began writing and recording their fourth album, Seventh Tree, at the end of 2006 and it is scheduled to be released on February 25.

The album moves away from the pop and electronic-dance music featured on Supernature, and features ambient and downtempo music similar to that of the French duo Air. Goldfrapp found inspiration for their latest effort in acoustic radio sessions.

The gig is on June 21. Tickets cost 17.50
