Pavilion's creative summer season

THE DE La Warr Pavilion hosts a wide range of activities for children this summer. The modernist building has added some new events to a programme which includes recurring favourites.

Lift the Lid, the free drop in sessions for parents and children to work together creatively, continue on the first Sunday of the month from 2pm-5pm. During August there will be four extra sessions on the 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th costing 2 each.

The Big Art Club, from August 3-7, is a week of creativity and experimentation for 8-12yr olds. Children have a chance to work with different materials and techniques such as painting, collage and sculpture, and explore ideas linked to the Pavilion's summer exhibition with artist Sharon Haward.

Stephen Taberner, singer, double bassist and director of the Australian folk singers, will be leading two special workshops in the distinctive Spooky style.

At 3pm, 6-12 yr olds can learn how to be Spooky by singing the spooky theme and having the chance to be on stage as part of the story of Jim (who ran away from his nurse and was eaten by a lion).

From 4pm, 13'“19 yr olds can learn to Sing Like A Bloke, as Stephen Taberner shares secrets from the spooky lexicon, including getting in touch with your inner 22 stone tribal chieftain, how to sob like a man, and why Georgians hardly open their mouths when they sing.

Both workshops cost 4.
