PCT survey

The results of the NHS national staff survey have been published, revealing that staff who work for Bexhill and Rother Primary Care Trust are generally happy in their work.

The survey was sent to 370 employees of the PCT last autumn, 71% of who responded, and contained questions about team working, job satisfaction, training, management and supervision, violence and health and safety.

Of the 28 indicators, Bexhill and Rother PCT was rated in the top 20% of PCTs nationally in 11 areas. These included job satisfaction, support from immediate managers and the extent of positive feeling within the organisation. The PCT also scored highly for low work-related stress levels, well-structured team environments and perceptions of effective action towards violence and harassment.

The survey highlighted two areas where the PCT needs to make improvements: work-related injuries to staff and physical violence from patients/relatives. Action to tackle these is already underway.

All 570 NHS Trusts in the country took part in the survey, with over 200,000 staff responding. The survey provides the opportunity for the PCT to benchmark itself against similar organisations.

Toni Wilkinson, Chief Executive of the PCT, said: "This survey is very valuable as it allows us to identify areas where we need to improve our working conditions for staff and put actions to do this in place.

"Overall, I'm very pleased with the results, which show that staff at the PCT are generally happy in their work. As always, there are areas in which we need to improve, and we will be addressing these immediately."
