Apparently there was trouble with the bus this month and that’s why it didn’t appear.

The Maltings: The Amicus Horizon housing redevelopment has begun with the complete demolition and removal of the existing buildings, and is expected to take approximately eighteen months to complete. The contractors’ permitted hours are between 8.00 am and 6.00 pm Monday to Friday and 8.00 am to 1.00 pm on Saturday. Work is not permitted on Sundays, Bank and Public holidays. Please be aware that there will be heavy goods vehicles in and around The Maltings and surrounding area during these hours . Although Westridge Construction is committed to keeping the noise and disturbance to a minimum, there will inevitably be some noise and disturbance particularly during the demolition phase.

Village Site Allocations: The meeting of the Parish Council on 7th February was attended by an unprecedented number of village residents. The main topic was the consideration by Rother District Planning Dept on the siting of a possible 45 houses including some 40%”affordable” housing in Peasmarsh. While the tenor of the meeting was to recognise the need for further development and was wholly in favour of “affordable” housing, the site proposed by RDC Planning was unanimously condemned. It was considered that the planners were acting out of panic under the government housing policy and giving no thought to siting development close to potential employment, schooling, utilities, public transport and sensible access to existing road network. The RDC “preferred” site was regarded as perverse and had previously been rejected for sound reasons. It was also felt that the document advising this possible development had not been given nearly sufficient coverage and was too complicated.

The Chairman expressed exasperation following earlier dealing with Rother District Council Planning Dept. that they “do not listen”.

Residents of Peasmarsh should make their views known to RDC Planning, if possible by 20th February.
